Most signs of spring are the welcome kind, including tree buds, blooms, warmer temperatures, and green grass. But gray-colored circles on the lawn? Not so much. Snow mold is caused by cold-weather fungi that primarily affects cool-season grasses. Signs of a problem aren’t noticeable until spring when the snow melts.

REPAIR & RESEED

In spite the best prevention efforts, dead, dying, or discolored grass may never recover its healthy appearance.  Here are a few steps to ensure seeding success.

  • 1) Gently rake the affected areas to loosen the underlying soil and then dispose of any matted debris. This will help the lawn dry out and give unaffected grass room to grow while providing a new seed bed.
  • 2) Patch, re-seed and repair with a Top-Dressing Mixture. An example of this mix would be combining Big Yellow Bag Garden Soil and Lakeside Sod Grass Seed.
  • 3) Spread 1 “of cover of this mixture evenly over the prepared seed bed.
  • 4) Lightly apply Profile Cover Grow to aid in germination and moisture retention
  • 5) Lightly water every other day or keep moist to ensure maximum germination.

Pro Tip: Apply 21-22-4 Starter with Meso. Immediately after seeding to control unwanted spring weeds. Always Read the Label.
